Welcome to SOAPware and our Quick Start Guide

The following pages will start with the basics of entering information and then serves as a guide through documenting, printing and customizing.

SOAPware can streamline almost every facet a clinical practice. As with any new piece of equipment, there is a learning curve involved. We strive to make this as simple as possible and intend to provide the support needed to ensure success with SOAPware. Your journey to a successful implementation will start with the single step of taking the time to review this guide.

Understanding the scope of implementation is crucial at this point. Many clinicians expect that learning/using SOAPware 2008+ will be more like riding a bicycle. Most clinicians know how to ride a bicycle, and they can hop on just about any bicycle and just ride it. Clinicians also know how to create medical records, so they expect to be able to be able to just walk up to SOAPware 2008+ and jump right in. They often don’t realize that using SOAPware 2008+ is more like jumping into an airplane than jumping onto a bicycle (BTW, SOAPware v4.x was more like a sophisticated bicycle). Once clinicians realize they are shifting to a completely different paradigm, this guide has proven to be a useful flight trainer.

These first pages include an overview of the SOAPware system, a step-by-step Getting Started set of instructions, and helpful tips to get the most out of SOAPware. It's our experience that the most successful clinical practices allocate adequate time for each user to complete this guide BEFORE given security access to use SOAPware in any live settings. In addition to this guide, we have many resources available to aid in this journey. These will be discussed in later sections.

Welcome to a worldwide community of over 30,000 medical professions representing in 70+ specialties.

This guide to SOAPware assumes that you have basic knowledge of the Windows operating system. Knowing how to use a mouse and a graphical interface is necessary in order to take advantage of the Introductions and Getting Started Guides.

If any of the clinic staff are in need of assistance in learning general Windows skills, we can recommend a number of books. Also, many community colleges and universities offer short courses.

The Getting Started guide assumes that SOAPware is already installed and ready for use. If this is not the situation at your site, see the SOAPware Installation Guides before proceeding. Once SOAPware is installed and are ready, Click Here to start Exploring SOAPware.

SOAPware Resources:

Community

At SOAPware, we believe that empowering our users is the key to success. In order to do this we've created 3 categories:

  • Training
  • Support
  • Sharing

Training

Very few persons can simply jump into an airplane and successfully solo. Very few EMR installations will be fully functional without proper training. It is our preference is to see SOAPware users flying rather than pedaling. Our training team is comprised of nurses who have been "in the trenches" and who have extensive experience with SOAPware. We offer a number of training options ranging from quick, one-on-one remote sessions to full, onsite training.

To view all of the training options, visit: http://www.soapware.com/training

Support

Sometimes, things go "bump in the night," and when they do, assistance may be needed. Our support team offers a wide range of experience ranging from an ability to troubleshoot software issues to providing advice on new hardware. Support is available via email, and phone, during standard business hours. Priority 24/7 support is available for SOAPware Professional users.

Sharing

SOAPware Inc. has created several information sharing methods that are groundbreaking for the EMR industry.

The first, this SOAPedia, is an online, user editable, complete reference guide for SOAPware.

The second, SOAPware Online Library, allows for the sharing of almost all SOAPware "knowledge" between users. This allows all to tap into other's "knowledge" in order to drastically reduce the amount of time spent customizing SOAPware.

Finally, we host a SOAPware discussion forum where users can come together, collaborate, and share tips and feedback.
