The Chart Sections editor allows you to add, edit, and remove sections of the patient chart that appear in SOAPware. This gives you great control over customizing your patient charts to fit your practice.

The Chart Sections editor contains Quick Access Buttons for Add a Section, Remove a Section, and Edit Section Defaults. Below the buttons are a list of current chart sections. The right side contains the text entry fields for the editing of the Title and Menu Title of a section (these are not gray and thus are available when an editable section is selected in the list).

A Container holds and organizes the various sections of the chart, which are known as Managers. They are noted by the expander node to the left of their name. To view the contents of a particular Container, Click the plus sign to see a list of the Managers. To hide a Container’s contents, Click the minus sign. The Containers that are currently visible in the screenshot above include the Chart Sections, Documents and Encounters.
A Manager is a chart section to contain documents and information. Examples of currently visible managers include Advance Directives, Billing Statements, Demographics, etc. Managers must be created within a container.
Click on the area that you wish to add a Chart Section. In our example above, we have selected Documents. To add a new section, Click on the add new section button.

Type the name of the chart section to add in both the Title and the Menu Text boxes.
Press the Create button.
Click OK. and Restart SOAPware.

The Title and Menu Title of custom chart sections you create can be edited.
The Title and Menu Title of SOAPware’s default chart sections can not be edited.
To edit the Title or Menu Title of a user-created section, Click the chart section name list item to edit. Then, Type name changes into the Title or Menu Title text boxes. To select the letter of the Menu Title that SOAPware will underline in its menu system, Place the & character in front of the desired letter. Click the Save Button.

Note: SOAPware’s default chart sections can not be deleted. This action can only be performed on custom chart sections that users create.
WARNING: This operation should only be performed after confirmation that there are no other users currently working with patient charts.
To remove a Chart Section, Click the Chart Section list item. Then, Click the Remove Section button
(or Press Ctrl + Alt + R). SOAPware will asks for confirmation.

Click Yes to do so. Click No to cancel.
When a Chart Section is removed, SOAPware asks where to place the documents contained within that section. The Reassign Documents dialog opens.

Choose the section to place the documents by Clicking the Chart Section list item preferred. In the screenshot the documents are being reassigned to the Financial Chart Section.
Because of the potentially disruptive nature of performing this action, Click the I have verified this checkbox to verify that you have read the warning, and have ensured that no other users are working with patient charts. When certain you are ready to perform this action, Click the Reassign button.
The documents contained within the section deleted will be moved, and the section will be removed.
Otherwise, Click Cancel, and SOAPware will not move documents and remove the chart section.
