  1. 1. Unique Development History

The software prototypes were doctor-created in the late 80's. SOAPware, Inc. was founded in 1994. For over a decade we have adhered to a simple philosophy of providing the best possible value for clinicians who want to advance into electronic record keeping. Since SOAPware is visually modeled to appear similar to paper charts, the learning curve for new users is minimized, and users can become more productive more quickly than they could using more abstract approaches to patient records. SOAPware is used at over 7000 sites in all fifty states and 30 other countries, and has more than 30,000 individual users. Such a large user base minimizes the cost and risk to end users. This large base of users provides invaluable information about what doctors want and need from their EMR systems. The SOAPware® team is constantly using this feedback to expand and improve the entire line of products and services to better serve the thousands who depend on SOAPware every day. While there are other EMR companies with physicians at the helm, few of these have also committed to adherence to national standards and certifications promising to be necessary for the future.

Unique Development History

One of the factors that has set SOAPware apart since the beginning is the fact that the mastermind of the software has been a practicing family physician since the early 80s. This has resulted in a software product developed within a real world medical practice. It has been developed with a working knowledge of what the product needs to accomplish and how it can function in the least disruptive manner. For over 20 years of product development, the software has been in continual use in a local multispecialty medical group comprising more than 10 discrete locations and with hundreds of individual users. This home environment has allowed for the maturation and evolution of the product to occur in a setting requiring flexibility and broad appeal across different types of practices and settings. In addition, SOAPware, Inc. has an active in-house medical practice and employs half a dozen medical professionals, further enhancing the overall product through real life evaluation and feedback.
