Customizing a HPI SMARText Item

Suppose we wanted to add a new item to MODIFIERS/TREATMENTS in the HPI. In this case, we will add a new, main pick list item. Suppose we wanted to add Has tried diet measures including to the pick list in SMARText Quick Access. In the screenshot below, Click on MODIFIERS/TREATMENTS in the Subjective field, and Click the Has tried checkbox. This results in the Has tried item being inserted in the documentation after MODIFIERS/TREATMENTS. Next, Right-Click Has tried; Click Manage SMARText items, and Click Edit SMARText item. This results in the display of the SMARText Designer for the Has Tried SMARText item as seen in the screenshot.

Our intent is to

1. Duplicate the Has Tried item
2. Modify it to have the verbage we want
3. Add it to the MODIFIERS/TREATMENTS pick list

Above, we opened the Designer in order to find a keyword in order to find the Has Tried item in the SMARText Items Manager. Actually, we just Copied !Sub-HPI-M, and Pasted that into the Search Field/box of the Manager. Then, Click the Search button to get the screenshot below. In order to duplicate the Has Tried item, Right-Click on Has Tried, and Click Duplicate.

In the screenshot below, notice there are 2 items with Has Tried in the Description. We created a duplicate and want to edit the duplicate. The Last Modified column gives us the information to determine which on is the duplicate. Click on the duplicated Has Tried item and Click Edit.

At this point, we typed Has tried diet measures including into the Description, and Copy/pasted into the Display Header.

To add Has tried diet measures including item to the MODIFIERS/TREATMENTS pick list, Right-Click Has tried; Click Manage SMARText items, and Click Edit SMARText item.

Drag-and-drop the Has tried diet measures including item into Item Settings for MODIFIERS/TREATMENTS, and Click Save.

 Click MODIFIERS/TREATMENTS to display the new item (we just created) in its pick list.
