The Chart Navigator is essentially the central hub of the chart. You can use Chart Navigator to access each part of the chart, and create new Chart Views by dragging items from the Chart Navigator to the current Chart View. In addition, you can use the Linear and Timeline views of Chart Navigator to see how items within the chart relate to one another.
Two of the easiest ways to access the Chart Navigator are by shortcut or menu:
Shortcut: Ctrl+B
Menu: Click Chart, Chart Navigator
The Chart Navigator interface consists of three tabs, the first tab is the Relationships tab it lists all of the different sections of the chart and the items contained in each section. The second tab is the Linear tab, it lists everything contained within the chart by date. The third tab is the Timeline tab; it lists items within the chart by item and date span.
Linear Tab Interface
The Liner Tab interface consists of one large list box with Date/Time, Physician, Status, and Description as column headers. This list box contains every item within the chart listed by Date/Time. Items can also be sorted by Physician, Status, and Description by Clicking the appropriate header.
Timeline Tab Interface
The Time Line Tab interface consists of a graph. Along the vertical Y axis are all of the document items within the chart, along the horizontal X axis are the dates for each item.
Relationships Tab Interface
The Relationships Interface is a tree view; at the root of the tree view is the patient's name, followed by sectional nodes. Some of the nodes branch further into sub nodes. Let us look at the Chart Navigator Relationships view starting from the top down.
