HL7 (Integrating)

This page will guide you through interfacing with SOAPware via HL7.

At present, all HL7 interfaces are uni-directional (results-only).

We recommend you begin with the Interface Roadmap.  This will give you a high-level overview of the interface process, from development, to compatibility testing, onsite testing, and go live.  We strive to maintain a very quick turnaround-time in interface testing, and many of our interfaces are ready for go-live in two weeks or less.

Next, you may want to review the HL7 Specification for the type of interface you are developing.  We have the following interface specifications available:

Each specification includes a sample file.  The specification and sample file together should give you a good idea what changes may be necessary to get your results to run through SOAPwareXchangeHL7.

Next, the Interface Tips & Tricks document will help you avoid common "gotchas" in the interface process.  After reviewing this document, you are ready to send your files for compatibility testing.  Email your sample result set to integrations@soapware.com, along with your company information, and the site the interface is for.  After basic compatibilty has been confirmed, we will use your lab & ordering site information to make sure their order for SOAPwareXchangeHL7 is processed quickly.

After the site receives the software, our support team will help them install and configure it for this interface.  At this point you may begin onsite testing.  Transmit results as usual, using dummy patient information.  These test patients can be mapped to test charts in SOAPware.

For any questions during the development and compatibility testing process, feel free to contact integrations@soapware.com

You're ready for go-live!  Congratulations!
