Every SMARText item in SOAPware is designated as a specific "type". The type tells SOAPware something about what type of data to expect, as well as defining what the item can do, and how it can be designed. Then, because SMARText items can contain other SMARText items, it is possible to build very comprehensive point and click data entry workflows.
In order to see the current list of ST item types available, go to the SMARText Manager Click on the “List - By Type” Tab. Click on the list down arrow to see the list as below.

DM Plan Item - is a multi-select list, if setup correctly the user can click on that item and select which Findings items they want to insert. The DM Plan Item isn't needed for EM Coder to work. EM Coder will simply look for the Finding items for counting. A multi-select list item can be used with the Findings added to it. What's nice about having these items here though he is that it provides a little more structure in the sense of having a dedicated DM Plan Item. By assigning it the sub-items used, it is easier to later come back and see all the DM Plan Items created previously. With that said though, it may be more than what users want.
Plan Note item - there is a good chance that we will be removing this item and replacing it with something more seamless. It is the item that transfers information to billing statements.
Note: While it is now possible to create new, customization SMARText items, it remains a bit complex at this point. We are developing GUI tools (i.e. wizards, etc.) to facilitate the creation of new ST items to make the process easier in the future.

Creating new ST items
Click on new Item in ST Editor
Right Click, Duplicate

Text that has been entered into a SOAPware chart, right click; select “Create SMARText Item; then add a shortcut, description, keywords etc.
Creation of tools-interfaces to make the creation and management of ST items easier are in active development now.
