SOAPware Security is an essential part of keeping your records secure. By setting up user login accounts for each of your users and enabling transaction logging, you can keep a record of who accessed what, and when. You can also track what changes were made to text or binary data items.

The basis of the SOAPware Security System are licensed Providers. Once a licensed provider account is loaded into the system you can create other User accounts. For ease of management, these accounts can be collectively managed in Groups or with Roles.

Once all security accounts have been created and are in use, you can audit users with Transaction Logging.

Note about Network Encryption:

The SOAPware client utilizes a Triple Data Encryption Standard (3DES) across a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connection on port 443, for any communication across open networks (the Internet) that contain patient health information (PHI).The end user does not need to take any actions to utilize this encrypted protection, as it’s hard coded into the SOAPware application. The Network Integration Specialist, should verify that port 443 is open on firewalls and or routers to the following domain names, swwebservice1.com and fax.mysoapware.com for all SOAPware client computers.

Note about Password Protection and Storage:

SOAPware encrypts the users password via the .Net Crypto API using the 3DES algorithm. Passwords are encrypted using themselves as a key thus - only way to decrypt the password is to know it. Once a user enters their password into the system there is no way to retrieve an unencrypted version of the password .Only the encrypted version of the password is transmitted over the network or stored in the database. Once a user enters their password into the system there is no way to retrieve an un encrypted version of the password.
