Current release version: 2010.0.86
Posted: Jan-26-2010

SOAPware 2010 (formerly dubbed 2009) has been in active development for over a year, and has undergone over six months of testing, first internally, then in several months of private beta.  We know it has been a long time, but we believe the improvements in speed, stability, and workflow will more than justify the long wait!

The full overview of new features is available in SOAPedia, our official wiki (http://bit.ly/SW2010Features), but the features we're most excited to share with you are:

  • Improved performance and stability - SOAPware 2010  works faster and feels "snappier" than previous versions, and uses less memory than SOAPware 2008, with far fewer problems and workflow speedbumps.
  • Remote Desktop enhancements - We've incorporated several improvements for clinics using remote desktop software, from custom colors to optional background images, that improve responsiveness and redraw speeds.
  • SMARText improvements - SMARText now allows customized colors and background shading, so your notes can be displayed in the style that makes sense to you.  The keyboard interface with SMARText has also been refined to simplify keyboard navigation.  Document Design macros are also now usable in SMARText documents.
  • Document Review workspace - A new area of SOAPware dedicated to letting users quickly review and sign open documents across all charts, not just the current patient.
  • New RxManager and Refill Manager - The RxManager and Refill Manager have been redesigned from the ground up, based on feedback from a diverse group of users, to make it faster and easier to manage prescriptions in a way to makes sense to clinicians, while still preserving the data structures that are increasingly required.  Faxed prescriptions can now be customized as well.
  • SOAP1500 - A new tool to generate and print CMS1500 paper claim forms from data in the visit note and store them directly in patients' charts for later reference.
  • Provider Signatures - Registered providers are now able to incorporate scanned signatures into notes, faxes, and printed materials.
  • Much, much more....

As with any new software, we recommend first evaluating SOAPware 2010 on a test system connected to a separate test database.  Also, be sure you have a full, tested database backup before using SOAPware 2010.  SOAPware 2010 includes some database changes that will make those databases inaccessible with SOAPware 2008!  This means that once you decide to use SOAPware 2010 with your live production database, you will be unable to revert to 2008 without restoring a full database backup.

All users, but especially those on SOAPware v4, should make special preparations prior to the upgrade to ensure that their staff and workflows are ready for the dramatic changes and improvements in SOAPware 2010.  Please contact our training and implementation department for assistance!

Please... Do not convert until all users have practiced and been certified as capable of performing all their daily work flows with the new version.

When you feel that you are ready to try SOAPware 2010, you can download it from the link at the bottom of this page.

If you are upgrading from SOAPware v5, please refer to the Supported Upgrade Paths to determine how you should proceed.

Finally, we'd like to thank you again all for your help and feedback!  Our users really are our most valuable partners, and we appreciate each and every one of you.  Your kindness, patience, and perserverance have been priceless to us!  Thank you from the bottom of our heart!
