Version: 5.2.0
Change Type: Added Functionality
Keywords:  Order Entry

Description

The workflow for Order Entry is as follows:

  1. Create your Order SMARText item, see: Order Entry Smartext Item
  2. Next create a new SOAP encounter.
  3. In the Plan field (Note that it must be Plan), insert your Order Entry item.  This step represents the 'documenting' of an Order.
  4. Open the Order Entry Manager via the 'Tools'-> 'Order Entry' -> 'Order Manager' menu item.
  5. This dialog should detect all of your orders.  From here you can 'place' the Order by clicking on the Order button, or print and fax the order.

Note that you can define sets of orders using the OrderSet SMARText item type, this is more advanced functionality but the Order Manager will handle this and place orders for the entire set.  Note that the mechanics of this will be changing slightly as the workflows become more polished. Also, the initial set of order entry items for download will not be in place until mid-September, 2008. Until these are present, we do not advocate vigorous use of order entry.
