Q: How Do I Use Document Designer Commands in SMARText/Docuplates?

Now, most Document Designer commands are available for use in SMARText items and Docuplates. When you print, fax or store document designs, these commands will be translated to patient data.

In order to insert the command, you must have the command text. If you do not have this, click Tools - Document Designer. Click File, Create New Design, type in a name. You can type in anything for the name, we are just opening a document design to get to the Document Designer commands. Click OK to go into the design.

Now, you can start inserting any Document Designer command that you would like to insert into your SMARText item or Docuplate. These commands are located under the Data Items menu. Click on the command to insert it. Now that it's been inserted, highlight the text and click Edit, Copy. Now close Document Designer and click No to save the changes since we don't need to save this Document Design.

Now you can open the desired Docuplate in Docutainers, Docuplates or SMARText item in Docutainers, SMARText Items. Paste the command where you want to place it. Now when this item or docuplate is inserted into the chart, it will contain the Document Designer command text. Whenever you Print, Fax or Store a document design, it will translate the Document Designer command to the actual patient's data.
