Users creating new SMARText Items

Situation

If SOAPware has an existing SMARText Item that I like but I would also like to create a second and modify it how would I accomplish this?

Solution

Within the SMART Items Manager,  Right click on any SMARText item listed, and Click the Duplicate menu item. This copies all of the coding, settings etc. into the new-duplicated item. For example, if you duplicate a Structured Rx SMARText item, the duplicated one will still work with e-prescribing and drug interaction checking.

Notes

It's very important not to change the fundamental meaning of duplicated items. For example, if you duplicate Tylenol, do not change the name to Amoxicillian. the coding system (in the background or codes/settings) for the item will still identify it as Tylenol in the computer and in the database.

It is also very important to make edits to the duplicated item and not the original. The duplicated item can be determined by checking the values in the Last Modified column in the SMART Items Manager,
